Sporting News From Term Four

Lots of sporting activities have taken place this term…

7th March – Arrows Archery at Benham Sport .

Y3 had a great afternoon of archery and Miss Bland loved the excitement displayed every time the bullseye was hit.

14th March Fun Run and Cross Country Championships at Abington Park.

Year 4/5 enjoyed running three laps of Abington park for fun – Mia didn’t realise it was three laps and ran four!  She said she was tired but she would definitely do it again.

The cross country was a tough event with year 4 completing 2km, year 5 completing 2.5km and year 6 completing 3km. Dan, who is a keen runner, said it was absolutely exhausting but he is proud that he achieved it.  Some amazing results:

Y4 -William 53rd, Libby 58th,  Ava 90th, Christina 91st & Ellis 105th.

Y5 – Elijah 55th,  Dan 58th, Libby 70th, Kayleigh 80th & Isabella 86th.

Y6 – Afrika 22nd, Thomas 47th, David 53rd, Casey 66th and Harry and Liam 81st.

There were 429 fun runners and 1396 championship runners!

Tri – Golf

Tri-Golf on a soggy day! This didn’t stop year 3 having fun and working hard to achieve a great score of 190 points.

Football News

A succesful term of football with the Y3/4 team placing 1st in their group and Y5/6 team 2nd in their group. Have a look at the league table here NTSSF

Soaked but still smiling!

SdS V CCS: a great win for the Y3/4 team with an 8 goal win. Cameron enjoyed the game against Kingsheath, he scored a cracking goal from the half way line.

Another win for the Y3/4 boys v Queen Eleanor.

Year 3/4 Gymnastics

This week, some of Miss Bland’s gymnastic club members took part in a gymnastics competition and here is what they had to say about the event.

Lily – At the start, I felt nervous. Afterwards, I felt really proud of myself.

Natida – I love the competition because I like gymnastics.

Tilly – I loved the vault. It was fun.

Donella – I like doing body movement so I tried my hardest to remember what to do and I did it! My favourite part of the competition was the vault.

Athletics

Last week,  some Year  5 and 6 children  went to Abbeyfield school for an athletics competition. This helped the children develop their team work skills as they cheered each other on. All of the children were separated into groups of boys and girls. The boys did the track events  while the girls did the field events. The field events were: vertical jump, triple jump and standing long jump. They also had 3 track events which were; 1+1 lap relay, 2+2 lap relay and the 6 lap relay. Other events included were: javelin, speed bounce and chest push.  It ended with an obstacle course and  everyone enjoyed the experience of trying something new. We are are all looking forward to the next competition.

Sky (year 5) said, “I really enjoyed the speed bounce, it was  challenging but fun!”

Swimming Gala

This week,  a few year 5/6 pupils attended the swimming  cluster event at NSB. It was a great opportunity for development swimmers to also experience a friendly atmosphere at a gala. The schools  competing were Delapre, Briar Hill, and Queen Elenanor. Simon de Senlis had a few winners, especially in Butterfly with Thomas and Saskia  – well done everyone.
