SdS Off The Mark With Sportsmark…

Sports leaders from Simon de Senlis were presented the Sportsmark Bronze award by representatives from Northants County Cricket Club this week.

An initiative endorsed by the ‘Sainsbury Games’ organisation, SdS were one of a group of schools being presented with this prestigious accolade. No schools were awarded with the Gold and only a handful achieved silver.

Lily and Tom were our representatives at the ceremony and will help us build and develop sport at Simon de Senlis as we seek to achieve our Silver and Gold award next time.

We ARE Simon de Senlis.

Dancing Into Our Hearts…

Our little Fred and Ginger’s made us all so proud yesterday as they won their preliminary competition and came 2nd in the final dance-off in ‘Junior Strictly’ at the Derngate Theatre last night.

The star-steppers from Simon de Senlis Jived and Tangoed their little hearts out in front of a packed auditorium but just lost out to 2-time winners Wootton Primary by only 3 points.

They looked stunning, their performance was stunning and i think everyone will agree that the our children are simply stunning.

Your school is EXTREMELY proud of you all…thank you.

Stylish SdS Side-Step Their Way To ANOTHER Trophy!

The Year 5/6 tag-rugby team brought a 3rd trophy of the year back to Hilldrop Road as they won the Northampton School Sports Partnership Trophy with great style and finesse.

On the back of the footballing successes of the football teams, our terrific tag-rugby team blasted their way to victory at The Duston School.

The culmination of 3 years work and planning by the PE faculty came to the fore as our boys and girls played flowing rugby, filled with pace and power. Extremely well drilled by Mr Prosser and MIss Bland, they were running into passes, crossing over, covering the ball and defending with fierce tenacity. The opposition simply couldn’t live with them.

After breezing through the group stage, Simon de Senlis won their semi-final in extra-time against a side who hadn’t conceded a try…until they encountered our team of phenoms.

A comfortable victory in the final, avenging our defeat last year, saw our team truly get what they deserved. They were the best team by a mile…if you ever get a chance to watch them, watch them! They are AMAZING!

Well done children, your school is EXTREMELY proud of you…thank you.

More Success For SdS As Year 5/6 Win NSSP Trophy!

Our successes on the football pitch continued this week as our magnificent Year 5/6 team beat all comers in the Northampton School Sports Partnership Trophy at The Northampton Academy.

Not only did we manage to negotiate our way through a tough group, a dramatic shoot-out  and a nerve-wracking final, but all without conceding a single goal.

Led by captain George K, Les Fleurs comfortably qualified for the semi-finals with 2 wins, a draw and 4 goals from the tireless, tenacious and clinical Tommy C.

Both he and George scored their penalties in a dramatic semi-final shoot-out with Lings Primary after extra-time failed to separate the two sides, with our back line of Georgie Beez, Luke and Archie a stronghold of defiance.

With our heroic goalkeeper Liam prepared to lose consciousness for the cause after a late goal-saving collision in the final, there was only going to be one winner as Tom scored to bring yet another cup back to Hilldrop Road.

Once again, the ‘apprentices’ from Year 5: Isaiah, Olcay and Kieran all showed the passion, effort and desire required to wear the green and white and played a massive part in the team’s success…our future will be safe in their hands.

Well done boys…the school is EXTREMELY proud of you. Thank you.

If the NSSP follow the same protocol as last year we should now progress to a regional competition and represent Northampton at a tournament against teams from across the midlands as we did last year in Chesterfield.

Since the school’s opening in 1994 there is little record of sporting success in our chronicles. In the last 2-and-a-half-years we have been edged out in 2 NTSSF town finals, competed in a nationwide tournament and have now won 2 trophies across key stage 2.

The giant has awoken…
